Protein kinases act as regulator switches and modify their target proteins by adding a phosphate group to them. This process, called "phosphorylation," results in altered activity of the phosphorylated protein. It is estimated that 30% of all proteins are regulated by this process.
지금 막 봤습니다. 현재, 이런 실험이 가능할 줄이야. ProteinProteinInteraction은 YeastTwoHybrid가 거의 유일한 실험인줄 알았는데, 요즘은 칩으로 하는군요. yeast의 거의 모든(4400여개) 단백질들을 ProteinChip위에 올려놓고, 87개의 ProteinKinase들을 가지고, ProteinProteinInteraction 여부를 체크했더니, 약 1325개의 단백질들이 관여하는 듯 하다는 군요. 위에 언급된대로 30%정도가 인산화되는 것이 맞네요. 이 이후로 어떤 재밌는 이야기들을 펼칠 수 있을지 다양한 생각들이 가능할것 같습니다. -- yong27 2005-12-27 09:11:33
