[[DCOM]]으로 만들어진 시스템은 [[EJB]]시스템과 호환되지 않는다. [[CORBA]]는 vendor specific하고, 그 외의 [[IP]]들은 firewall에 제한받는다. [[SOAP]]은 이들 문제를 해결해준다.
