-ORPHEUS is a software system for gene prediction in complete bacterial genomes and large genomic fragments. The analysis starts with database similarity search and identification of reliable gene fragments. The latter are used to derive statistical characteristics of protein-coding regions and ribosome-binding sites. At the final step, the complete set of genes in the analyzed genome is predicted, with special attention paid to correct gene start identification. All analysis steps are fully automated.
