21번째 AminoAcid로 평가받고 있다. GeneticCode상에는 나타나있지 않으나, 보통 stop코돈으로 사용되는 UGA 코돈이 m[RNA]서열내에 [SECIS]가 존재할때 SelenoCystein 을 코드한다.
