대립유전자.

특정 종의 모든 유전 풀에서 어떠한 [Gene]의 모든 형태를 통틀어서 allele이라고 한다. 내 몸안에도 같은 유전자가 두개 (allele)로 존재한다. 하나의 [Locus]에 있는 두 대립유전자가 같은것이라면 homozygous라고 하며, 다를 경우, heterozygous라고 한다.

이런 방식으로 Allele개수가 여러개인 [Gene]을 polymorphic gene이라고 한다. 이들은 그 차이를 다음으로 구분한다.

• [SNP] : single nucleotide polymorphism
• [DIP] : deletion/insertion polymorphism
• HETEROZYGOUS : variable, but undefined at nucleotide level
• STR : short tandem repeat ([Microsatellite]) polymorphism

• NAMED : insertion/deletion polymorphism of named RepetitiveSequence element

• NO VARIATON : sequence scanned for variation, but none observed
• MIXED : cluster contains submissions from 2 or more alleleic classes

• MNP : multiple nucleotide polymorphism with alleles of common length > 1

Bialleic [SNP]의 경우, 많은쪽을 MajorAllele, 적은쪽을 MinorAllele이라고 한다.
